Imports of fertilizer increased in first four months

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported 1.4 million tons of fertilizer worth of US$ 405.9 million in the first four months of this year, down by 9.5 per cent in quantity and 4.5 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In April only, the country imported 489,100 tons of fertilizer worth of $144.6 million, up by 17.8 per cent in quantity and 22.6 per cent in value over the previous month.

China was the country’s leading fertilizer import market of Vietnam in the first four months of this year, with 440,500 tons worth of $ 114.9 million, down by 30.89 per cent in quantity and 31.18 per cent in value over the same period last year and accounted for 30.8 per cent of the total.

Russia followed with 210,100 tons worth of $ 62.2 million, up by 22.1 per cent in quantity and 21.47 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.

In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s imports of fertilizer from Israel increased sharply by over 2 times in quantity and in value to 87,100 tons worth of $ 26.5 million.

However, the imports from Indonesia decreased sharply by 73.84 per cent in quantity and 70.52 per cent in value to 28,500 tons worth of $ 8.3 million.
