AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s imports of paper reached 1.2 million tons worth of US$ 973.9 million, up by 10.43 per cent in quantity and 5.08 per cent in value over the same period last year, according to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In August only, the country imported 170,400 tons of papers of all kinds worth of $ 138.8 million, up by 6.7 per cent in quantity and 11.3 per cent in value over the previous month.

Taiwan ranked second with 185,600 tons worth of $ 97.1 million, up by 3.63 per cent in quantity but down by 2.32 per cent in value; then Indonesia with 163,500 tons worth of $ 114.1 million, down by 17.4 per cent and 14.57 per cent, respectively.

Te imports of paper from Russia increased sharply by 47.75 per cent in quantity and 27.89 per cent in value year – on – year in the first 8 months of this year to 14,100 tons worth of $ 12.1 million.

However, the imports from the Philippines decreased by 42.16 per cent in quantity and 49.54 per cent in value to 4,400 tons worth of $ 2.3 million.
