Vietnam's Jan-Aug rice exports drop to 3.37 mln tons

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam, the world's third-largest rice exporter after India and Thailand, will ship an estimated 3.37 million tonnes of the grain in the January-August period, a drop of 16.6 percent from a year ago, the agriculture ministry said on Friday.
Revenue from rice exports in the first eight months of the year, destined mostly for China, Indonesia and Ghana, will reach an estimated $1.51 billion, down 13 percent from a year ago, the ministry said in a monthly report.
