AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s seafood exports totaled US$ 611.3 million in July and $ 3.69 billion in the first 7 months of this year, according to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

The U.S, Japan, China and South Korea were the country’s 4 leading seafood export markets in the first 7 months of this year. The exports of seafood to the U.S reached $ 761.7 million, up by 11 per cent; to Japan – down by 3 per cent to $ 537.9 million; to China – up by 53 per cent to $ 350.4 million; to South Korea – up by 2 per cent to $ 311.9 million. 

According to the forecast of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters (VASEP), Vietnam’s shrimp exports may reach $ 3 billion this year, up by 10 per cent year – on – year while the exports of tuna – up by 10 per cent to $ 500 million; squids and octopus – up by 5 per cent to $ 450 million; Tra fish – down by 4 per cent to $ 1.6 billion.

The country’s seafood exports are expected to reach $ 7.1 billion this year, up by 8 per cent year –on – year.
