Main items imported in first 7 months of 2016
Thursday, August 25,2016AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s trade revenue reached US$ 191.63 billion in the first 7 months of this year, slightly increased by 2 per cent over the same period last year, according to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the export turnover was at $ 96.99 billion, up by 5.4 per cent; and the import value was at $ 94.74 billion, down by 1.2 per cent.
The major commodities imported by the country in July and the first 7 months of 2016 included:
Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts: : The country imported $ 2.24 billion worth of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts in July and $ 15.34 billion in the first 7 months of this year. The figures were down by 11.6 per cent and by 6.3 per cent, respectively year – on - year.
The main import markets of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts in the first 5 months of this year were China with nearly $ 5 billion, down by 5.6 per cent year – on – year; South Korea – $ 3.1 billion, down by 0.9 per cent; Japan - $ 2.35 billion, down by 19.6 per cent; and Taiwan - $ 774 million, down by 13.7 per cent over the same period of 2015.
Computers, electronic products and components: Vietnam spent $ 2.4 billion on imports of computers, electronic products and components in July and $ 15.02 billion in the first 7 months of this year, up by 14.3 per cent and 14.4 per cent, respectively compared with the same months of 2015.
The major import markets of computers, electronic products and components in the period were South Korea with $ 4.88 billion, up by 25.6 per cent year – on – year; China - $ 3.05 billion, up by 8.4 per cent; Taiwan - $ 1.65 billion, up by 41.6 per cent; and Japan - $ 1.37 billion, up by 5.8 per cent.
Cell phones and accessories: Vietnam imported over $ 824 million worth of cell phones and accessories in July and $ 5.62 billion in the first 7 months of this year, up by 12.3 per cent and down by 9.4 per cent, respectively compared with the same months of 2015.
The main import markets of cell phones and accessories in the period were China with $ 3.32 billion, down by 14.5 per cent year – on – year; and South Korea - $ 1.99 billion, up by 8.5 per cent.
Iron and steel of all kinds: The country imported 1.46 million tons of iron and steel of all kinds worth of $ 706 million in July and 11.1 million tons worth of $ 4.49 billion in the first 7 months of this year, up by 32.6 per cent in quantity and 0.8 per cent in value year – on - year.
In the first 7 months of this year, the country imported 6.56 million tons of iron and steel of all kinds from China, up by 32.6 per cent over the same period last year; the imports from Japan, and Taiwan reached 1.64 million tons and 1.07 million tons, up by 11.6 per cent and 57.3 per cent, respectively.
Cashew nuts: Vietnam imported nearly 166,000 tons of cashew nuts worth of $ 250 million in July, up by 4.4 per cent in quantity and 7.9 per cent in value over the same period last year. The figure brought the country’s total imports of cashew nuts in the first 7 months of this year to nearly 569,000 tons worth of $ 852 million, up by 0.6 per cent in quantity and 19.8 per cent in value year – on – year.
In the first 7 months of this year, the country imported 77,000 tons of cashew nuts from Cambodia, down by 27.3 per cent over the same period last year and accounted for 13 per cent of the total.
CBU automobile: Vietnam imported 10,800 CBU automobile worth of $ 208 million in July, up by 25.1 per cent in quantity and down by 16 per cent in value over the previous month. The figure brought the country’s total import of CBU automobile in the first 7 months of this year to 60,600 units worth of $ 1.42 billion, down by 5.9 per cent in quantity and 17.3 per cent in value year – on – year.
Textile, garment, leather and footwear of all kinds materials: The country’s import of textile, garment, leather and footwear of all kinds materials reached $ 1.59 billion in July and $ 10.72 billion in the first 7 months of this year, down by 0.2 per cent over the same period last year.
The major import markets of textile, garment, leather and footwear materials in the first 5 months of this year were China with the import value of $ 4.55 billion, up by 4.1 per cent; South Korea - $ 1.67 billion, down by 0.5 per cent; Taiwan - $ 1.28 billion, down by 7.2 per cent year – on – year.
