AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam earned nearly US$ 2.66 billion from export of wood and furniture in the first 5 months of this year, up by 2.04 per cent over the same period last year, according to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Of the figure, the export of wood products reached over $ 1.93 billion, up by 5.8 per cent and accounted for 73 per cent of the total.

The U.S was leading in the list of the country’s major export markets of wood and furniture in the first 5 months of this year with the export turnover of $ 1.05 billion, accounted for 39.3 per cent of the total and increased by 7.3 per cent year – on – year. It was followed by Japan with $ 400.61 million, up by 3.5 per cent; to China - $ 354.88 million, down by 1.34 per cent; to South Korea - $ 225.32 million, up by 17.68 per cent.
