In June, the country’s exports of rice reached 537,948 tons worth of $281.03 million, down by 29.6 per cent in quantity and 28.2 per cent in value over the previous month. The average rice export price reached $522.4 per ton in June and $507.7 per ton in the first six months.

China was still the biggest rice export market of Vietnam in the first six months of this year with 891,688 tons worth of $474.84 million, down by 27.6 per cent in quantity and 14.8 per cent in value over the same period last year.

The exports of rice to Indonesia – the second biggest rice export market of Vietnam – increased sharply by 45 times in quantity and 60 times in value over the same period last year to 685,908 tons worth of $322.01 million.

The Philippines followed with 384,146 tons worth of $183.46 million, up by 43.5 per cent in quantity and 76.8 per cent in value.

Meanwhile, the exports of rice to Malaysia reached 304,178 tons worth of $138.22 million, increased by 86 per cent in quantity and 112.7 per cent in value.

In the first six months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of rice to Turkey increased by over 9 times in quantity and 11.4 times in value to 4,425 tons worth of $2.54 million; to France – up by 317 per cent in quantity and 241.9 per cent in value to 751 tons worth of $0.56 million; to Iraq – up by 120.5 per cent in quantity and 153.5 per cent in value to 150,000 tons worth of $85.56 million.

However, the exports of rice to Senegal fell sharply by over 99 per cent, both in quantity and in value to 47 tons worth of $0.03 million; to Brunei – down by 97 per cent in quantity and 97 per cent in value to 323 tons worth of $0.14 million.
