Speaking at the company’s 10-year anniversary in Vietnam, held in HCMC today, December 12, a representative of Sharp Vietnam said that its 2019 business target was achievable as the company was forecast to reach a growth rate of 125% this year versus its result in 2017.

Given this figure, Vietnam is regarded as the fastest-growing market for Japanese electronics and household appliances in Southeast Asia.

In addition, the company had successfully launched a series of electronics and household appliances with multiple features in the Vietnamese market, including Android TVs, air-conditioners and Plasmacluster air purifiers.

Masashi Kubo, general director of Sharp Vietnam, said that starting from 2019, the company will penetrate the local smartphone market, distributing OLED smartphones, particularly the world’s lightest OLED flagship, weighing 146 grams.

Sharp Vietnam is expected to contribute to the growth of this smartphone brand in Vietnam in the years to come.

Also, the representative of Sharp Vietnam said that even though the company had yet to assemble smartphones in Vietnam, Sharp was running component manufacturing factories in the country.

Yoshihiro Hashimoto, executive managing officer at Sharp, said Vietnam was one of Sharp’s most important Southeast Asian markets due to its high potential and growth prospects.
