 Tuesday, October 23,2018

AsemconnectVietnam - The Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) will coordinate with the HCM City International Integration Support Center (CIIS) to organize a seminar, themed “The U.S.-China trade war: Prospects and risks for Vietnamese import-export enterprises,” in HCM City tomorrow (October 24).

The seminar, which is scheduled to take place at the Kim Do Hotel in HCMC’s District 1, will feature two sessions, “Impacts of the global market on domestic firms’ trade activities” and “Risks in import-export contracts and arbitration in settling commercial disputes.”
The first session will focus on the US-China trade war and its effects on Vietnamese import-export enterprises’ performance.
Meanwhile, during the second session, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Hoa, former deputy director of the Telecommunications Institute of the National Center for Natural Sciences and Technology, and a VIAC member, will deliver a speech on e-transactions in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and risks involved in import-export activities.
In addition, Lawyer Le Thanh Kinh, managing director of Le Nguyen Law Firm, another VIAC member, will talk about the risks of import-export documentation.
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Minh, director of University of Foreign Trade’s HCM City Campus, and a VIAC member as well, will talk about the role of arbitration in trade disputes.
In the context of the escalating US-China trade war, Vietnamese enterprises are forced to compete more strongly with foreign rivals.
However, most enterprises have yet to understand the possible risks involved in the transformation process.
