HCM City steps up economic and trade links with China

AsemconnectVietnam - Cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and China has seen constant development, especially in economics and trade, as reflected by the establishment of its friendly relationship with eight local Chinese localities such as Shanghai, Shenyang, Guangzhou, and most recently Chongqing.

Secretary of the HCM City Party’s Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan made the remarks at a September 15 meeting with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi who is on a visit to Vietnam for the 11th meeting of the Steering Committee for Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation held on September 16.
On behalf of the municipal leaders, Nhan highlighted the significance of the meetings of the Steering Committee for Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation as a contribution to deepening the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, thus delivering practical benefit to both sides.
Ho Chi Minh City is ready to do its utmost to keep up its continued contributions to the development of mutually beneficial comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China and for the sake of peace, stability in the region and the world as a whole, Nhan told his guest.
In reply, the Chinese Foreign Minister pledged his best efforts to further foster the relationship between China and Vietnam in general and HCM City City in particular,  in a bid to bring legitimate benefits to the two sides.
Wang Yi affirmed his country’s willingness to share its experience in combating corruption and stimulating social development with Vietnam and as well HCM City towards stability, peace and prosperity of each nation.
The Chinese official suggested bolstering closer affiliation in various aspects between the two countries' localities, including the cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Chinese localities so as to contribute to the common development of Vietnam-China ties and the strengthening of solidarity and traditional friendship between the two peoples.
The same day, a delegation from the China Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Wang Yi paid floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh's monument at Nguyen Hue walking street in front of the Municipal People's Committee.
