He also applauded the Spanish diplomat’s efforts to boost Vietnam – Spain ties during her first year of tenure and showed belief that Maria Jesus will work closely with Vietnamese ministries and agencies to further strengthen Vietnam-Spain relations as well as Vietnam – EU ties. 

Both sides have boosted closer collaboration at multilateral forums and international organizations. Spain is now Vietnam’s major trade partner in the European Union with two-way trade reaching US$3.1 billion last year. 

Minh said he hopes the Spanish government and ambassador will adopt more measures to enhance bilateral trade and investment, especially in clean technology, renewable energy, and environment. 
The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry, ministries and agencies are ready to offer the best possible conditions for the ambassador to fulfill assigned tasks, he said. 

Maria Jesus in turn, said her nation always values ties with Vietnam and wants to build cooperation mechanisms aimed at deepening bilateral strategic partnership. 

Spanish firms are greatly interested in the Vietnamese market, focusing on renewable energy and infrastructure, she said, and pledged her best efforts to cultivate bilateral friendship as well as Vietnam – EU ties during her tenure. 

Spain will speed up the implementation of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between Vietnam and the EU, the signing and ratification of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement to open up new prospects for future bilateral trade and investment, she said.
