State President: VN wants to boost ties with Netherlands
He suggested both sides intensify cooperation in water resource management, agriculture, energy, logistics, judicial affairs as well as collaboration between their localities.
The diplomat pledged to do her utmost to further foster friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the Netherlands and Viet Nam.
PM stresses application of military science
Enhancing the application of military science is an important task in the present context, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.
At a working session with leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the PM stressed the need for the sector to master cutting-edge weapons and equipment in training and fighting.
The ministry was also requested to keep discipline, seriously fight corruptions and other bad deeds in the army, and hasten the equitisation of military-run businesses to prevent losses of State assets.
DPM asserts Party’s guideline to support startup
Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed the Party’s guideline on supporting and developing businesses and start-ups and the Government’s determination to serve businesses and people.
Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Hue welcomed agencies and enterprises to organize the conference in the context that Viet Nam is focusing on realizing the Party’s guideline on the development of businesses and start-ups.
The event created an opportunity for ministries and Ha Noi’s authorities to consider institutions and polices in terms of both micro and macro-economic levels in general and startup and creativity in particular to increase the number of effectively operating enterprises.
NA Standing Committee comments on crime reports
The National Assembly Standing Committee listened to and gave feedback on reports on crime prevention and law enforcement during its third working session.
The government reported that from October 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016, crime reduced generally, but murder and drug trafficking cases increased and cyber security and safety faced threats.
The NA’s Law Committee basically agreed with the government’s report, saying that amid complicated developments in the region and the world so far this year, the Government, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy have adopted synchronous measures to fulfill tasks assigned by the legislature regarding the prevention and control of crimes and law violations, investigation and prosecution.
VN, China agree to boost cooperation in maritime issues
Viet Nam and China affirmed to continue promoting cooperation in less sensitive maritime issues during the ninth round of talks between their working groups held in Ha Noi on September 18-21.
At the talks, the two sides emphasized to strictly implement the common perceptions of the two countries’ senior leaders and the Viet Nam-China agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues.
Project launched to strengthen women’s role in economic development
A project on enhancing opportunities for women’s enterprises (EOWE) has been launched in the four central provinces of Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Qua
A ceremony to introduce the EOWE project, jointly organized by the Binh Thuan province and the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) in Binh Thuan on September 21, was attended by over 100 representatives from the four targeted provinces.
Under the project, around 100,000 people are expected to have better awareness of gender equality; 20,000 women will have higher incomes; and 18 others will receive assistance to run their lucrative businesses.

A wide range of pharmaceutical and healthcare products and equipment are on display at the Pharmedi 2016 that opens on September 21 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 11th Viet Nam International Exhibition on Products, Equipment, Supplies for Medical, Pharmaceutical, Hospital and Rehabilitation will have 600 booths set up by more than 350 exhibitors from 25 countries and territories.
