AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam spent US$ 18.95 billion on importing goods from China in the first 5 months of this year, according to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In the first 5 months of this year, the country exported $ 7.49 billion worth of goods to China, so the country got $ 11.46 billion of deficit in trade exchange with China.

The five leading items imported by the country from China in the first 5 months of this year included machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts - $ 3.36 billion, down by 9.47 per cent; cell phones and accessories – nearly $ 2.5 billion, down by 15.71 per cent; cloths of all kinds - $ 2.18 billion, up by 5.79 per cent; computers, electronic products and components - $ 2.07 billion, up by 6.3 per cent; iron and steel – over $ 1.62 billion, up by 2.2 per cent.

In the first 5 months of this year, the country’s import of coal from China increased sharply by 108.2 per cent; that of tobacco materials – up by 104.5 per cent; ordinary metals – up by 85.5 per cent; glass and products – up by 74.46 per cent. However, the import of precious stones, metals and products was down by 66.6 per cent; cameras, camcorder and components – down by 62.15 per cent; cotton of all kinds – down by 61.57 per cent; CBU automobile – down by 56.74 per cent. 

Also in the first 5 months of this year, the country’s export of goods to China reached only $ 7.5 billion, leading by cell phones and accessories with the export turnover of over $ 1.1 billion.
