Vietnam’s leading export items in first 5 months
Wednesday, June 29,2016AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s trade revenue hit US$ 133.246 billion in the first 5 months of this year, up by 2.2 per cent over the same period last year.
The export turnover of FDI enterprises accounted for nearly 70 per cent of the country’s total export turnover in the five months and increased by 9.4 per cent year – on – year.
The main items exported by the country in the first 5 months of this year included cell phones and accessories - $ 14.2 billion; textiles and garments - $ 8.6 billion; computers, electronic products and components - $ 6.3 billion; and footwear of all kinds - $ 5 billion.
In May, the country’s import value was at $ 14.5 billion. The figure brought the total import value in the first 5 months of this year to $ 65.81 billion, down by 1.7 per cent year – on – year.
FDI sector accounted for 59 per cent of the total import value with $ 38.8 billion.
The leading export items in the first 5 months of this year were as follows:
Cell phones and accessories: Vietnam exported $ 2.93 billion worth of cell phones and accessories in May and $ 14.25 billion in the first 5 months of this year, up by 19.1 per cent or $ 2.28 billion compared with the same months of 2015.
The main export markets of cell phones and accessories in the period were EU with $ 4.44 billion, up by 10.8 per cent year – on – year; the U.A.E with $ 1.86 billion, up by 8.9 per cent; the U.S - $ 1.78 billion, up by 63.3 per cent; and South Korea - $ 1.06 billion, up by 222.9 per cent.
Textiles and garments: The country exported nearly $ 1.78 billion worth of textiles and garments in May and $ 8.62 billion in the first 5 months of this year, up by 2.1 per cent and 6.4 per cent, respectively year – on - year.
The leading export markets of textiles and garments in the first 5 months of this year were the U.S with $ 4.29 billion, up by 6.5 per cent year – on – year; EU - $ 1.24 billion, up by 7.1 per cent; and Japan - $ 1.04 billion, up by 3.4 per cent.
Computers, electronic products and components: Vietnam earned $ 6.38 billion from export of computers, electronic products and components in the first 5 months of this year, up by 6 per cent compared with the same months of 2015.
The major export markets of computers, electronic products and components in the period were the EU with $ 1.43 billion, up by 18.3 per cent year – on – year; China - $ 1.1 billion, up by 12.9 per cent; the U.S - $ 1.07 billion, down by 3.3 per cent; and Hong Kong -nearly $ 600 million, down by 11.1 per cent.
Footwear of all kinds: The export of footwear of all kinds totaled $ 1.25 billion in May and $ 5.05 billion in the first 5 months of this year, up by 22.3 per cent and 8 per cent, respectively year – on - year.
The country’s top export markets of footwear of all kinds in the first 5 months of this year were the EU with $ 1.66 billion, up by 7.1 per cent year – on – year; and the U.S – $ 1.76 billion, up by 8 per cent.
Seafood: The country’s export of seafood hit $ 558 million in May, down by 0.3 per cent month – on – month. The figure brought the country’s total export of seafood in the first 5 months of this year to $ 2.51 billion, up by 4.4 per cent year – on - year.
By the end of May, the country’s export of seafood to the U.S reached $ 519 million, up by 10.9 per cent; to EU – 443 million, up by 1.4 per cent; to Japan – $ 357 million, down by 1.2 per cent; and to China - $ 247 million, up by 51 per cent or $ 83 million over the same period last year.
Crude oil: The country’s export of crude oil reached 616,000 tons valued at $ 226 million in May and over 3 million tons worth of $ 918 million in the first 5 months of this year, down by 47.2 per cent over the same period last year.
Rice: The country’s export of rice hit $ 329,000 tons in May, down by 27.9 per cent month – on – month. The figure brought the country’s total export of rice in the first 5 months of this year to 2.33 million tons worth of $ 1.05 billion, up by 0.3 per cent year – on - year.
By the end of May, the country’s export of rice to China reached 803,000 tons, down by 12.8 per cent; to Indonesia reached 351,000 tons; and to Ghana – 203,000 tons, up by 49.2 per cent year – on – year.
Coffee: : The export of coffee was at 162,000 tons in May, up by 12.9 per cent month – on – month. The figure brought the country’s total coffee exports in the first 5 months of this year to over 827,000 tons valued at $ 1.42 billion, up by 15.4 per cent year – on - year.
