 Wednesday, February 28,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Wednesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands increased by 500 VND to VND91,000 - VND94,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

The maximum price for pepper rose by 500 VND to VND94,000 per kg in Binh Phuoc while in Dong Nai province, the lowest price to VND91,000 per kg. Farmers in Dac Lac and Dak Nong sold pepper for VND93,500 per kilogram, in Gia Lai province for VND91,500 per kilogram and Ba Ria – Vung Tau for 92,000 VND.
As noted by Ba Ria - Vung Tau newspaper, in the province's pepper growing capital, Chau Duc district, farmers are harvesting the 2024 pepper crop. These days, the family of Ms. Le Thi Hoan (Suoi Lup hamlet, Binh Ba commune) is busy picking pepper on an area of nearly 1 hectare. It is expected that in this year's pepper crop, her family will harvest about 1.2 tonnes, higher than last year. The selling price also increased by more than 20,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of the crop, nearly doubling compared to the same period last year.
Mr. Lam Ngoc Nham - Chairman of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Pepper Association, said that in addition to organic pepper products, people's traditionally produced pepper is also very popular due to the decreasing pepper growing area. Pepper prices are regaining upward momentum right from the beginning of 2024. This is a good sign, hopefully it will bring high income to farmers in this year's pepper crop. According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, in the first 15 days of February 2024, Vietnam exported 5,687 tonnes of pepper. Of which black pepper reached 4,886 tonnes and white pepper reached 801 tonnes. Total export turnover reached 22.7 million USD. The main export enterprises include Olam: 615 tonnes, Lien Thanh: 578 tonnes, and Nedspice Vietnam: 570 tonnes.
