Vietnam spent 3.4 billion USD on importing animal feed materials in 6 months
Wednesday, July 12,2023AsemconnectVietnam - According to the Department of Livestock Production, in the first half of 2023, Vietnam imported 8.2 million tonnes of animal feed and materials, equivalent to 3.4 billion USD.
According to the Department of Livestock Production (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), in the first 6 months of 2023, Vietnam imported 8.2 million tonnes of animal feed and mateirals (equivalent to 3.4 billion USD), down by 3.3% in volume and 7.9% in value over the same period of 2022.
The materials imported included corn kernels 3.3 million tonnes (equivalent to 1.1 billion USD); oil dry of all kinds 2.3 million tonnes (equivalent to 1.1 billion USD); wheat and barley 978,000 tonnes (equivalent to 321 million USD); DDGS (dry wine residue) 450,000 tonnes (equivalent to 166 million USD); bran of all kinds 285,000 tonnes (equivalent to 70 million USD); rice, broken 237,000 tonnes (equivalent to 79 million USD); supplementary feed 190,000 tonnes (equivalent to 232 million USD).
The decrease in the quantity of imported raw materials was due to the increase in the price of imported feed ingredients, so businesses have sought alternative domestic feed sources. China tightens the import of agricultural products from Vietnam, including rice bran and cassava, so these materials are used domestically.
