Vietnam to compete in AFF U22 champs in Cambodia
Friday, October 19,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam will compete in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U22 Championship 2019 to be held in Cambodia from February 17 to March 2, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has announced.
The team will be in Group A with Thailand, Timor Leste, Laos, Brunei and the Philippines. Group B consists of Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Singapore.
According to the VFF, Vietnam’s team will include many players who played in the FIFA U20 World Cup last year such as midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai, defender Doan Van Hau and striker Ha Duc Chinh.
Hai, who plays his club football for champions Hanoi FC and is a key member of the U23 and Olympic squads, was named Young Player of the Season of the national premier league.
Vietnam will meet Timor Leste in the opening match on February 17.
The event will be a warm-up to prepare for the upcoming qualifying round of the AFC U23 Championship 2020.
